Anton Volkov comes from Moscow, Russia, but lives and works in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and all around Europe. Argentine tango is his life – and has been since 2000. He can look back on many years of experience in dancing, teaching and public dance performances. He became a professional dancer after ending his career as a martial artist – his career in Kyokushin Karate.
He is convinced that dancing – like any other endeavor – is a living thing that is constantly changing, growing and adapting to our lives. However, he has a particular passion for Argentine tango. That is why he continuously takes part in further training, experiments, dances and is a regular guest in the city where tango was born, Buenos Aires.
About My Way To Tango
As a teacher, I focus on the flow of energy and the communication between partners – so that their dance becomes a true dialogue. For me, tango is not about executing steps, but about listening and responding. Through this dialogue, movement becomes light, playful, and connected – a moment of mediation and inspiration.
At the heart of my teaching is the music. I work with precision and dedication to help dancers not only hear, but embody the music. With me, you don’t just move to the music – you become part of it. Part of the orchestra.
I translate sound into movement and pay close attention to the unique character of Tango, Vals, and Milonga. My focus lies on the core ideas of tango and the essential elements that give it structure and beauty: embrace, posture, elegance and clean footwork – in all their richness and variety.
